Close to my home here in Germany at the German/Dutch border flows the river Maas. Its sand has the unique quality of being cube-shaped instead of having smooth and round edges. That makes it perfect building material for sand sculptures. Just add water and those sculptures will last for weeks and even withstand rain. The sand gets exported and used during sand art festivals all over Holland and Germany.
